Elizabeth Flaherty owns and operates Wavelength Public Relations. With more than 15 years experience in public relations and journalism, Elizabeth is a rare professional who has not only worked as a journalist in radio and newspaper, but in production roles for television news and current affairs.
This holistic experience in the media means her clients benefit from her knowledge and management of all forms of the news process. A testament to this is that she has never issued a media release that has not received coverage.
Elizabeth Flaherty began her public relations career as the media manager for the Royal North Shore Hospital. At the time it was the busiest emergency hospital in the State and she quickly demonstrated her natural ability to manage sensitive and often high profile issues in a pressured environment.
Her strengths in media and issues management allowed her to bypass the usual industry pigeonholing. She has worked across a range of specialist areas including telecommunications, the pharmaceutical industry, finance, tourism, public health and the emerging alternative energy sector.
She is equally at home in the public or private sector, in Sydney or in country New South Wales; but enjoys managing her growing public relations business from her hometown of Scone in the Hunter Valley.
Elizabeth Flaherty holds a Bachelor of Arts in Television Production from Charles Sturt University and a postgraduate degree in Asian Studies – comparative politics from the Australian National University.
She is a registered member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia. Elizabeth also has accreditation as an AUSTVETPLAN Public Relations Officer from Animal Health and is a private sector contact for the Emergency Animal Disease (EAD) program.
